Hi, Pete, and welcome back!

It was your intelligent psot on a Pavlina foprum thread which led me here, and I'm glad I came by.

I know exactly what you mean about wanting everything to be 'perfect' before putting yourself out there, and I'm glad you're finding your way around it! Sometimes we just have to take the leap and say what we have to say, regardless. I'm not sure if that perfectionsism is a flaw or a blessing...or some strange combination of both?

Just from what you've written, I look forward to reading more, and I hereby commit to being even more open and honest in my own blog posts (not that this means anything to you, but it does to me.)

Thanks, Pete.

(in reflection) It looks like I'm asking myself to write more. A few other Pavlina readers have asked me to write more articles. Yes I can do another on denial... I do not have to look far in my life to find some content to write about. ;) Denial is pretty pervasive and I still like to create with it a lot.

Thanks for reading!

I really enjoyed this post. I have read some of your posts on Pavlina's site and I connect with your thoughts about denial. I am exploring this within myself and the little games of ego I choose to play which serve as a barrier (this can be an embarrassing realisation). Would you be willing to write a little more regarding the subject of denial?

Thankyou for the post.

Hi Pete,

I’m so glad that you shared your experience...I too suffer from back pain for more than 15 years now currently I’m 33 years old.....in between it had almost reduced and now it has come again with very high pain. all I have noticed the best treatment while pain is hot water fermentation (by water bottle) and keeping your self engaged with some work all the time…not letting you mind to wonder..You have to see your dreams as a movie running in front of you like in a theater and you’re the actor in the movie…just after that. Petty the role and keep your-self happy and away form the thoughts. I now it looks funny but it help’s… also try some mediation in early morning with some breathing exercise like Pranayama…this will boost your moral and immune power drastically. as I have tried all the possible treatment I could with spending huge money….I suggest to try this..wish you good luck thanks once again….be happy.
Thanks

My wife has had issues with her sciatica as well as a herniated L-4 & L-5 vertebrae ever since the birth of our second daughter. The pain in her lower back was to the point that she couldn't sleep and was looking to get my back operated on to "relieve" the problem. After some research with other doctors and chiropractors we decided to take a naturopathic approach. we both started consuming an unusual and very healthy whole food drink called "FrequenSea" that is totally organic and vegan friendly. The real driving ingredient(s) in FrequenSea that I find compelling are the huge amounts of natural anti-inflammatories in the 220 different species of marine phytoplankton. Yes - microscopic sea weed! These single celled plant organisms, upon consuming them, has helped my wife regain a healthy lifestyle again at only 2 ounces a day. I know it's not medicine, but it sure helps her feel better when nothing else could. I am so convinced of FrequeSea and it's ability to honor and edify our bodies that I now have a website telling its story by the man who discovered it's incredible healthy properties - Tom Harper. Listen to Tom's story here --> http://www.juli.provibrant.com

This has been a fascinating read. It's good to see such a broad view, along with the darker elements. I've always tried to believe there is a difference between pain and suffering. I've had chronic pain from sciatica for many years, but managed not to suffer too often from it. There have been times when there was suffering, but I try to keep my perspective.

I've now had an unusual event with my herniated L4-5 disc. It burst and pushed straight back into the cauda equina nerves of the spine. As I try to recover from this injury, it is good to read all these words. They help me find ways to suffer less, even with the current pain and weakness from this rather nasty injury. Thanks for such thoughtful writing.

Chad, I loved your posting. It made me cry. Your case was much worse than mine is. I don't have the spine problem you did, I have the piriformis syndrome. I've been working with a fine physical therapist to strengthen core muscles, and it's helping, but I still have pain. Haven't gone to a chiropractor yet, but I guess I'm willing to try. I will try the oil=based B vitamins, maybe the inversion table. Thanks so much for your post.
