Hi Pete,

I’m so glad that you shared your experience...I too suffer from back pain for more than 15 years now currently I’m 33 years old.....in between it had almost reduced and now it has come again with very high pain. all I have noticed the best treatment while pain is hot water fermentation (by water bottle) and keeping your self engaged with some work all the time…not letting you mind to wonder..You have to see your dreams as a movie running in front of you like in a theater and you’re the actor in the movie…just after that. Petty the role and keep your-self happy and away form the thoughts. I now it looks funny but it help’s… also try some mediation in early morning with some breathing exercise like Pranayama…this will boost your moral and immune power drastically. as I have tried all the possible treatment I could with spending huge money….I suggest to try this..wish you good luck thanks once again….be happy.
Thanks

This has been a fascinating read. It's good to see such a broad view, along with the darker elements. I've always tried to believe there is a difference between pain and suffering. I've had chronic pain from sciatica for many years, but managed not to suffer too often from it. There have been times when there was suffering, but I try to keep my perspective.

I've now had an unusual event with my herniated L4-5 disc. It burst and pushed straight back into the cauda equina nerves of the spine. As I try to recover from this injury, it is good to read all these words. They help me find ways to suffer less, even with the current pain and weakness from this rather nasty injury. Thanks for such thoughtful writing.

I share the view that a person's emotional state and connection to nature shape perception of illness. Illness reflects different kinds of physical and other imbalances and also a need for greater self-awarness. To relieve or resolve ills, you need a sense of how thoughts, feelings and behaviors interconnect. It helps to take steps to raise your awareness of why you feel as you do in particular situations.

When people experience disconnect, they may not even know. When a person expresses negativity to someone for something, anger or frustration may actually relate to another situation completely. Until we become aware of why we feel as we do and deal with it "in the here and now," repressed or ignored feelings reverberrate and disrupt other aspects of our lives, be it relationships, health or other levels of well-being.

It sounds like we have something in common. I too have sciatic nerve pain and 2 buldging disks in my lower back (I think it is L4 and L5). I have been dealing with the buldging disk issue for about 10 years and chiropartic and acupuncture and that helped but now I have the sciatic pain on top of it and it is really wearing me down. (Not to mention the pain in my neck and shoulders that no one can seem to give me a reason for- sometime I think my spine and muscles hate me) I noticed you were given Formula 303 and I have been thinking about trying it but I havn't been able to find much info on it. How has it worked for you? Have there been any side effects?
I am so tired of taking ibuprophen for pain and although my doctor has given me scripts for pain meds and muscle relaxers, I don't like taking them because of the side effects. I am just looking for something that will help me without making me feel like a zombi.

Hey, Dharma!! Clicked on your link on Pavlina.com - I just picked up a copy of Caroline Myss' Anatomy of the Spirit, which goes into much detail about the emotional/physical connection through study of the chakra, sacrament, and Tree of Life systems. The book literally fell off the bookshelf at the used book store and hit my head! LOL I just started it, but it's very informative - a tiny glimpse can be found on her site:
http://www.myss.com/chakras1.asp And, there may be more there, as well - just went to her site for the first time, too. Hope there's something useful for you there.

peace, peace, and love ~

Hi Pete,

I have been reading your blogs and they are really good at taking abstract concepts and making them more concrete. I was wondering if you could comment on the healing process as being both a mental process not solely a physical one. I have read about the subject, but you seem to have a lot knowledge in the area and I am interested in hearing what you have to say about the subject if you are interested...

Thanks so much,
Laura
