Law of Attraction Redux

When I decided to write a manifestation blog I searched the web for what was already out there. There are a ton of sites, some practical, and many dipping into the metaphysical. There are techniques, top 10 lists, and meditations — something for everyone.

Dipping further into the realm of manifestation there is much excitement about the Law of Attraction (1,250,000 hits), Intention-Manifestation (40K hits), and Subjective Reality (156K hits on Google).

My first exposure to the “Law of Attraction” was a book title by Esther and Jerry Hicks. Esther is the channel of a group of non-physical beings called Abraham. As I scanned through the links on Google I can see people who have seminars, CD/DVD disks for purchase, and there’s even a movie. I’m kinda scared to even write Law of attraction on my site. Seems like I should be typing Law of Attraction â„¢.

A few of the sites use Abraham’s words: “that which is like unto itself is drawn.” Wow, that’s a mouthful. I think an easier way of saying that is like attracts like. According to the “law”, we attract whatever we choose to give our attention to. If you read further on on any of these websites, we are told that we create through our thoughts. That got me thinking if anyone has ever gotten the Law of Attraction (LoA) to work, well, if at all.

This blog is about manifestation, creatorship, fire, and lifting the denial that is around our ability to manifest whatever we want. It will go down a different path than LoA and Intention-Manifestation, removing the denials present in those systems, and moving along side the Subjective Reality theory.

Thought does not create.

The first thing I’d like to make clear is thought does not create. LoA says over and over again to focus your thoughts on xyz to get xyz. And what you think of will manifest. Your thoughts are a manifestation themselves, not the thing that does the creating. You, which I will refer to as “self”, does the creating. You or self is the one consciousness the pervades everything. There is nothing that is not self, even though our world is paradoxical and looks like there are a bunch of little selves running around.

The mind somewhere, somehow got the job of “director” and given the job of manifestation. It is a job it does not do well at all. Just look around you and see how screwed up the world is. That’s what happens when minds are given tasks to do. Letting the mind be director is like letting a 5 year old build a house with power tools. He may get it done after a lot of work, but the roof may leak and he may be missing a few fingers in the end.

Years ago I was introduced to Sri Ramana Maharshi’s teachings. He practiced a technique called self-inquiry, which leads the way to answer of, “Who am I?” When the mind returns a thought, you then ask “To whom does this thought arise?” The questioning leads the mind back to it’s source, the self, and a discovery takes place that one is not the mind or thought, but something else that creates those thoughts.

This is why I say the mind/thought is a manifestation, and using that to manifest other things won’t work. You’ll also notice when the mind is still the whole world does not disappear.

We create more by our beliefs than our thoughts. Watching your thoughts is useful to give you insight into your beliefs and where your focus is. Thoughts and emotions will follow your beliefs, not the other way around.

You are you, body or no body.

I want to make mention that beings without bodies are no smarter than you or I. A physical body is just another focus on another dimension. When you choose to let go of your body (when you die) you don’t suddenly get smart and know all the secrets of the universe.

Our soul experience is littered with denial. It’s everywhere and everyone does it with so much perfection we rarely ever see it. That’s why were here… to unravel the denial and get back to conscious creatorship.

When we leave the physical, the denial travels with us. And denial is actually harder to work with and harder to see in the non-physical dimensions. Yes, you can get fooled easier in the world of spirit. I will tell you straight-out the beings that comprise Abraham are learning just like we are, but they do not have the benefit of living in a physical world. They can tell us “this is how to manifest what you want”, but they may not see the denial present in some of their instruction.

“The universe” does not create, you do.

One of the denials in the LoA is that the universe gives you stuff. The universe is you, so you might as well remove one layer of denial by saying I create or self creates. You create everything in your experience. Though it is nice to be able to blame “the universe” when it doesn’t deliver what you want instead of looking at your own creative process. More on this is a future article.

The Law of Attraction will bring you to a certain point in your creatorship. It does not address the forms of denial we all use in 99% of our creating, the delay experienced using the LoA, and it gives no talk to the unconscious self. When you create with denial, it’s a lot of work and it’s slow.

I will be expanding on all these topics and giving tools to understand, identify, and work with the denial on our creative process along with sharing some of my personal experiences with my own creatorship.

Great first post! I read your entry at the StevePavlina.com forum and decided to check out your site. I think that our understanding of LoA and subjective reality is constantly evolving, so I look forward to your future posts on identifying denial.

Also saw some of your posts on StevePavlina.com and think that YOU GET IT!

Thanks for another great place to stop by.

This post was deep and I’ll need to reread it several times.

“The first thing I’d like to make clear is thought does not create. LoA says over and over again to focus your thoughts on xyz to get xyz. And what you think of will manifest. Your thoughts are a manifestation themselves, not the thing that does the creating. You, which I will refer to as “self”, does the creating.”

Wow…I love this. I’m with you. Thoughts don’t create. But I do believe that we can direct our thoughts to support us in what We want to create.

Thanks again for the food for thought

Thanks Annie,
“Choice manifests” will be the mantra on this site over beliefs creating or thoughts creating. Right now it’s safe to say that your beliefs create, and your thoughts are an indication of your beliefs. Going a level deeper there is the firey energy of the root chakra called ‘choice’ and it is what actually does the manifestation. I will get into all of this in future posts.

Great info.

I watched the Secret DVD a few months ago and got another book on Law of Attraction,
but it didn’t really start happening for me until I wrote down my intentions. I found that to be
VERY powerful.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0975436171/ is a book I just got, which makes
planning out your Law of Attraction goals easy. Just fill in the blanks and you’ve got a road
map to follow. Has been working well so far.

[…] Thought is a Manifestation Sit still, close your eyes and think about something you know. Something you know to be real or true, something you’ve seen or done. You can see it in your mind can’t you? Okay, now do the same thing, but this time think of something you’ve never seen or had experience of. Make something up, something crazy, something you have never seen before or never had experince of. Did it have the same feeling of being a real image? The first one I did was a mental image of my new truck, but the second one I did was a fighter plane on the runway with a cow sticking out of the side of it. It just poppped into my head instantly, totally random (very kooky ) but just as real as an image in my head and just as real as the first image of my truck. Now where did those two images come from? The first came from memory, but the second was a completely brand new created image, but both thoughts are manifestations, but manifestations from where and/or who? I always thought (pun intended) that thought was doing the creating, but it’s not. Thought is a manifestation of self. Self is doing the creating. I suppose this is what Steve means by consciousness is running the show, but I don’t think he explains that very well. While thoughts are instructions to program or create reality, it’s the self or consciousness that is doing the thought manifestaton and in turn manifesting the output of thought. Self is the creator, not thought, thoughts are manifestations of self. The interesting thing about self is how powerful it truly is and yet we are very detached from it. It’s running the show, our show, our life, but we seem very distant from it. I found this to be helpful.
